Italy!!!! What have you learnt?

Hi Room 14,

Tell Miss Brewer some of the things that you have learnt about Italy (the country that we are representing in the RBS Olympics Games).

Here is a great website for you and your family to learn even more about Italy: http://www.pocanticohills.org/italy/italy.htm (just click on the address).

Have fun!

Love Miss Brewer

Dear Room 14
Last year Mr Cope and I went to Italy for a holiday and stayed in Venice, my favourite city in the whole world, for a week. We spent lots of time walking beside the canals watching the gondalas and eating gelato. I would love to visit your class next week and find out some more information about Italy.

Hi Miss Brewer

We learnt what sixty million people live in Italy and there is 15 Italians for every one Kiwi. My Grandad lived in Italy when he was young. He was a teacher. He shared a taxi with 3 other people to get to school. One day they were late for school. The taxi driver suddenly stopped his taxi at the crest of a hill and jumped out. My Grandad went over to him and said "we are going to be late". The taxi driver turned to him and said in Italian "Look at the beautifull sunrise". My Grandad turned and looked at the beautifull sky and realised that sometimes we miss the beauty around us.

Hi Miss Brewer

The Gladiators used to fight lions and tigers in the Colosseum. The Colosseum is in Rome, Italy. If you want to see some good pictures of the Colosseum, here is a good website http://www.greatbuildings.com/buildings/Roman_Colosseum.html.

Hi Miss Brewer,

We are having pizza tonight for dinner. Pizza comes from Italy. Along time ago, Italian soldiers would cook pizza on their sheilds during a long march.
