Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in New Zealand!

Hi Room 14,

It was lovely to meet Shandy the Hearing Dog today! She was such a cute dog and just so fluffy. Wasn't she clever with all the things she could do!Let me know what you learnt about what Shandy does for her owner Joanna.

Love Miss Brewer

When something goes wrong Shandy goes up to Joanna and taps on her leg. Then Joanna says where is it? Then Shandy takes her to it. When she does good Joanna pats her. Shandy was so soft and she licked my hand.

Ms Taite, Shandy helps people by:

* "Touch people when there is danger". By Angus
* "If there is a fire in the kitchen Shandy would take Joanna outside". By Ashleigh
* "When dinner is ready and she hears the timer she tells Joanna".
By Joshua
* "When the person takes the dog for a walk, Shandy can hear skateboards and gets Joanna to move out of the way". By Aiden
* "When she hears a noise she pricks up her ears and listens for it". By Tess
* "When she is a good girl she gets a treat". By Imogen

Shandy is an amazing dog. I got to pat her and she was soft. She was the best dog I have ever seen. She is really a thousand times soft.
